Ask me about Miss Manners. She came to visit us and talk all about using good manners. We learned how important it is to look someone in the eyes when we meet them for the first time or when they are speaking to us. We also learned about the Golden Rule!
Ask me about the learning celebration! It's tomorrow night from 5:00-6:15 at Wamogo. We can't wait to share our work with you. Please join us and see what our special exhibit is!!! Ask me about the animals I am learning in Spanish. There are so many different ones. We are working on a special coloring book that is helping us to learn the animals. Here are the ones I have learned; cow (la vaca(, pig (el puerco), horse (el caballo), sheep (la oveja), rooster (el gallo), la gallina (chicken), goat (la cabra) and el pato (duck). Aren't you amazed at all that we have learned in Spanish this year?!
Ask me about Hero Day. Today we had a special morning presentation. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this school wide event. We heard from US Army National Guard, Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, Goshen Volunteer Ambulance and EMT, DEEP and Police. We also got to see the inside of a police car. We learned so much. Thank you PTO for this awesome morning!!! Ask me about the spelling bee today! It was our first time at a spelling bee. The 4th, 5th and 6th grade finalists had to spell different words. If they spelled it correct, they moved on. There were very hard words to spell! We were very impressed! Ask me about our first day back from vacation! What a busy day. We got right back into our routine. We talked about Earth Day and made a promise of how we can take care of the Earth. There are so many things we can do to help our Earth. We are going to be doing many things to celebrate Earth Day (it was last week, but since we were on vacation we are going to celebrate it now)!
Ask me about the new book we read today, The Ok Book. Mrs. Mahar learned about it at her conference. It's about being okay at things. It's okay to just be okay! We talked about things that we are okay at. Mrs. Mahar is okay at drawing. Then we wrote about the things that we are okay at....but we are having fun figuring them out!!!
Ask me about opinion writing! We are writing about problems and how we can fix them. First we see a problem, next we think about how we can fix that problem and then we write about it. The first problem we fixed was our coat closet, because it was a mess! We thought about how to fix it and we worked together to write about it. As Henry C told his mom, "you should have seen our coat closet, it was fantastic!" We can't wait to write about more things we want to fix! Ask me about our new Social Studies unit. We are learning about community helpers. We have been learning about teachers and what they do. Today we even had a "Teacher" center during Learning Centers. We got to use all of the things Mrs. Mahar uses like the white board, calendar, westher graph and pointers. We had fun using our imagination and teaching our students! Ask me about my reading mat. We use it during Reader's Workshop. We make a pile of "just right" books from easiest to hardest. We read them in that order to get our brain muscles warmed up! Then we read them from the hardest to the easiest. Our reading muscles are getting stronger every single day!!! |
