Ask me about Memorial. We learned that Memorial Day is a very special holiday! We discovered that this special holiday is a time for us to remember the people who died protecting our freedom while serving our country in the military. We understand that many parades and picnics take place on Memorial Day weekend to celebrate the sacrifice made by these brave people in the military.
Ask me about our tadpoles! We learned about the life cycle of frogs. We learned that adult frogs lay eggs. Then, tadpoles hatch from the eggs. Eventually, the tadpole grows legs and it's tail shrinks. We call this the froglet stage. Eventually the tail disappears and the adult frog breathes with lungs instead of gills. We love observing our tadpoles! Ask me to play Attribute Dominoes. Today, we played a fun game of dominoes using attribute blocks. We each selected 5 blocks from a bin. Then, we took turns selecting a block from our collection to match a block at the beginning or end of our attribute train. We can play this game at home with buttons, shells, or rocks! We like to make very long trains! Ask my about our party for Mrs. Mahar! We surprised Mrs. Mahar with cards, presents, and treats to celebrate her last day in kindergarten. We were excited to share our advice about how to be a great mom! It was easy to come up with excellent advice because we all have wonderful mothers!
Ask me about the activity we did called, "What's Your Preference?" Our writing unit is focused on opinion writing and we used this activity to share our opinions and give reasons why. Some of the questions were easy for us to answer and some of them we really had to think about. Here are a couple of the questions we had...
What's your preference... -find a spider or find a snake -be invisible or be able to fly -go to the beach or go on a hike in the mountains -pizza or tacos -camping trip or a trip to Disney World This is a fun game to play with me! Ask me to give your reasons to support my answer. Ask me all about the Energize Guys! They taught us about using energy and resources and not wasting them. Resources are things like coal, oil and natural gas. If we run out of resources, they are gone for good! Renewable resources are things like wind, sun, solar energy and water. We learned how to save energy by being energy efficient. We can turn off lights and anything that uses energy, we can use energy efficient light bulbs, turn of heat and air conditioning when it's not being used and turn off the computer. Ask me about me favorite part! Ask me all about our special guest today! Miss Rickard came and taught us all about bunnies and their lifecycle. We learned about different types of bunnies. We learned that bunnies can have red, blue or brown eyes. They have lop ears (which means their ears are down) and upright ears (which means they stand up). Bunnies have strong noses that help them to find their food underground. They can live up to 10 years and they are mammals. Click on the link belong to learn more about bunnies!
