Ask me about our fun day or learning and exploring at Imagine Nation. We saw so many things. We got to pretend to milk a cow, explore water activities, put ourselves inside of a bubble, be a commentator on a sports show, build with foam blocks, dance on the light-up floor, examine scales under a microscope and so many other exciting things! Check out our animoto video of our day.
Ask me about our assembly today. Nature Nick came to share all of his animals with us. There was a snake, monkey, coati, parrot, owl, alligator and a kangaroo!!! We learned how to tell if a snake is poisonous through a special poem..."red touches black-friend of Jack, red touches yellow-dangerous fellow." We heard the owl hoot, the parrot talk but the most exciting part was getting to see the kangaroo hop around the gym! Click on the link below to see. Ask me about our thankful turkey. We each made a feather for our turkey with the things that we are thankful for. Our turkey has many colorful feathers to show off.
Here are some of the things we shared: family friends school snow home food water chocolate pets sunshine pumpkins books Ask me about comparing lengths of objects. Today we used a ten tower and compared its length to things in our classroom. First, we looked for different things around the room and guessed if it would be longer or shorter than our ten tower. Then we compared by putting the two objects next to each other. Compare means to figure out if things are the same or different.
Ask me about Reader's Workshop today. We went outside because it was so nice and read with a partner. We even had our mini lesson outside too! It was a beautiful day to enjoy reading and the weather. We had fun!
Ask me what great partners do when they read together! Today we practiced reading with a partner and being a great partner. We shared the book and sat knee to knee. We shared some of our favorite "dessert books." We read the story, Turkey Trouble, by Wendi Silvano. In this story, the turkey disguises himself as different animals so he won’t be eaten on Thanksgiving. In the end of the story, the family chooses to eat pizza instead of turkey! We disguised our own turkeys so they wouldn’t be dinner on Thanksgiving this year. We thought of an idea and created our turkeys with our families. There were so many different ideas. Today we shared our turkeys. We told about our idea, what we did to make it and how we created it. We used our speaking skills. We are so proud of our work. Ask me about enrichment clusters! Ask me what I did. Ask me something that I liked. It was an exciting afternoon getting to meet with our clusters for the first time. We had a lot of fun learning with friends from every grade. We are looking forward to the weeks to come.
Ask me about Writing today. We have been writing stories with a beginning, middle and end. Today we shared our stories with each other. We aren't done yet, but we wanted to share what we have been working on. We loved listening to all of the writing in our class. Ask me about the new addition to our classroom! Today we got to use our new sensory table. It is filled with water. We can also put sand and rice in it. We are going to use it for many different activities. Our class applied for an innovative grant for the sensory table and we are so excited that we received it. We can't wait to use our sensory table to enhance our learning!
