Ask me what persistent means. We learned this new word during Reading Workshop today. We are being persistent readers and trying all of our strategies when we get stuck or don't know a word. We watched a video about this word and learned a silly new song!

Ask me about the "Music Museum" today. The fifth graders made their own instruments and we got to see all of them and watch how they work. We were amazed at their hard work and creativity. Ask me which one was my favorite.
Ask me about our guest reader and parent volunteer today. Mrs. Santovasi and Mrs. Hubschman came to kindergarten today. Mrs. Santovasi read us a story and Mrs. Hubschman did a spelling activity with sight words. We played "Sight Word Candyland." We love to have guests come in our class to read and help us! We are always looking for an extra set of hands in our classroom. Please let Mrs. Mahar know if you are interested. We would love to have you!
Ask me what a bucket balance is used for. Today we compared the weight of different things in our classroom. Did you know that a small box of chocolate and 19 Hershey kisses weight the same amount? How about one regular dice and 10 foam dice...they weigh the same too! We had fun finding things in our room to weigh.
Ask me about exclamation points! Today we learned how to use them in our writing to show emotion like when we are excited or happy. We even wrote our own sentences and used them! We can't wait to use exclamation points in our writing.
Ask me about teen numbers. They all start with 1. We have been learning all about teen numbers and sometimes we get confused what order the numbers go in, so today we learned a new song to help us remember that "numbers in the teens, they start with a one." Click on the link below to listen to this song at home!
Ask me what letters are vowels. Vowels are needed to make words. We learned that vowels are called "sticky letters" because they are the glue that sticks words together. We know the sounds each vowel makes too. Have me search for vowels when we are reading together.
Ask me all about our 100th day celebration. We did so many activities! We made 100 day books, trail mix with 100 things to eat, a 100 days smarter crown and a silly activity where we made ourselves look 100 years old! Then we started to make a list of 100 things we have learned in school. We ran out of time, so we are going to finish it tomorrow. We also dressed up like we were 100 years old. What a special day we had! Ask me about the number 100. We have been talking about it a lot because Monday is the 100th day of school! We are getting very excited for this day. There are so many things we are going to do. Today we learned a special new song about the number 100. Click on the link below to play it at home!
