Ask me all about our Polar Express Day. Yesterday we read the story, The Polar Express. Today we watched the movie with Miss Walker's class. After the movie, we took a survey to see what we liked better, the movie or the book. More people in our class liked the movie. Then, we made a Venn diagram to compare the book and the movie. There were many things that were the same about both! For Writing, we wrote about what made us like the book or the movie more. We ended our day with a holiday sing-along. What a fun day we had!

Ask me all about our special second grade visitors. They performed "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" as a Reader's Theater. Each student had their own special part to read. We were so proud of our 2nd grade friends and their hard work.
Ask me about our "Sharing Assembly" today. Students were able to show off their talents, their work or even a special song. We loved to see all of our friends share. The whole school was together for this special time. We loved being together with our school family!
Ask me all about my Writing goal. Today we set a goal for our writing. We used a special checklist for information writing and chose one thing that we wanted to work on and be our goal for our writing. We chose the goal that was best for us! Here are the goals we could choose:
1. I told what my topic was. 2. I put different things I knew about the topic on my pages. 3. I had a last part or page. 4. I told, drew, and wrote information across pages. We are excited to work hard to meet our goal! Ask me all about the author who came to visit today. We loved meeting Mark Kimball Moulton. He shared a story with us that he wrote called, Change The World Before Bedtime. We even talked about the "author's message" just like we do in our classroom! The message in his story was "simple things can change the world." He also talked about words that make us feel good like "happy" and "I love you." It was so exciting to meet him.
Ask me about the Lego Robotics presentation today! We got to see the the robots in action. Each group was challenged to see how far they could move a penny. The students were so creative with their robots. One robot was on wheels, one was on a car and two were inside of a ball. Each group demonstrated how theirs worked. The ping-pong ball went the farthest. Maybe we will try this challenge when we get to 6th grade.
Ask me all about what special thing I did today. At the end of the day, the whole school got together to make cards for a little girl who is sick. For Christmas, she wanted a "lifetime of Christmas cards" from all over the world! In the spirit of the season, we each made a special card to send to Addie to brighten her day. We spent lots of time making the card just perfect for her. We were so excited to do something that would make her feel happy.
Ask me all about how to dress for recess at school. We discussed the important things we need for recess when it is cold and snowy outside. We are allowed to play in the snow at recess but we must have the right clothes. We need; a warm coat, mittens, a hat, snow pants and boots. We need all of these things in order to play in the snow at recess. You can even practice helping me get all dressed in my snow gear at home! Then I can do it quickly at school. We have been working on becoming independent in the classroom so this is great practice!
Ask me all about the new things I am learning about penguins. Did you know there are four different kinds of penguins? Did you know penguins live in Antarctica? There are so many new and exciting things we are learning about penguins. Today we wrote about all of the things we have learned. Check out the story we read to learn even more exciting things!
Ask me how to make a pizza. During Writing, we have been talking all about How To books and today we started to discuss how to make a pizza. We read a silly story called, Pizza Pat. Then as a class, we brainstormed how to make a pizza. We found out that the majority of our class only likes cheese pizza. We also talked about how important it is to remember every step in a How To book. We are going to start writing our own "How To Make A Pizza" books!
