Ask me about our Polar Express day. It was fantastic! We watched the movie. Then we compared the book and the movie, we talked about which we liked better. We had hot chocolate too. What a wonderful day!

Ask me all about the special story we heard today. Mrs. Keilty read us, Harvey Slumfenburger's Christmas Present. It is one of her favorite stories. In the story, Santa forgets to deliver a present to Harvey and doesn't realize it until he gets back to the North Pole. He travels in all different ways to get back to Harvey's hut to deliver his gift. At the end of the story, Harvey opens his gift, but we were left wondering what it was! We did a writing activity and we wrote and drew what we thought the present was. There were so many different ideas!
Thank you to everyone to came to our holiday sing-along! Every child in our class had a family member attend. It was such a wonderful time together. We were so happy to have you there! Ask me about the letter we got from Reader Man and the special "power pointer" he left! We are becoming such amazing Super Readers! Ask me about the special program we had today. We learned all about different holidays. Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan and Kwanzaa. Ramadan is a month long celebration and people fast (which means that they do not eat) during the day. They only eat when it is dark out. Did you know that Christmas is the most celebrated holiday? Hanukkah is celebrated for eight nights. Kwanzaa celebrates a person's heritage. It began being celebrated 49 years ago. We sang many different songs and learned lots of facts too!
Ask me about being a Super Reader! Ask me what a super reader can do? Ask me about the Power Pointer! There was so much going on during Reader's Workshop today. We were learning and laughing at the same time. Some of us even got to wear Super Reader capes!
Ask me about Math today. We compared our names to see who's names were shorter, longer or the same as ours. First, we built our names using connecting cubes and then we compared and graphed them with our classmates. AJ has the shortest name and Sullivan has the longest name. We can even compare names at home!
Ask me about the tree lighting! It's tonight at 5:00. We can't wait to sing carols, drink hot chocolate and light up the tree. We even made ornaments. It will be a special time for our GCS family to come together and share in the holiday spirit! Hope to see you there.
Ask me all about the golden music note and golden paintbrush. We earned them in Art and Music for our awesome behavior! This is the third month in a row we have earned the golden music note! We are very proud of ourselves and Mrs. Mahar is so impressed!!! We are working hard.
Ask me about comparing numbers. Today we tried a math activity comparing numbers. We worked with a partner. Each of us had our own cards and we picked one at a time and compared to see who had the bigger number! |
